We played off of one of our current patterns "Open Space" and changed it up just a little bit.
Open Space uses the BasiX template. We've added some True Grips to our templates to make cutting much easier. True Grips are a non-slip adhesive ring that you apply to your template. We put them on both sides of the template as some of our patterns use the template right side up and some use it upside down.
We constructed our block and are ready to cut using the BasiX template. But before we cut, we like to give our blocks a spray of Best Press before we cut. We are working with bias edges and starching it with some Best Press gives it a little stability.
Notice the "X-tras" or cut off triangle pieces. Don't throw those away. They are not waste. You can use them in the border, as a second project, or sew them together and put in a pieced backing.
We added a few more blocks to make it wider and longer and we substituted the square in a square block with this fun panel of quilting meme's from the fabric line "A Stitch In Time" by Northcott Fabrics.
I thought I would have it quilted and bound for you but the custom quilt I currently have in the frame is "kicking my behind" and I just couldn't get it finished in time to get this one quilted.
