Quilting Eye Candy Judy Niemeyer Quilt

I am so lucky to live so close to a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor, Denise Green.  Denise lives less than 30 minutes away in Luling TX and is the owner of a really neat quilt shop called HollyDee Quilts.

Denise made this quilt, which is 96"x96" and ask me to quilt it for her for Quilt Market in Houston.  At the time she ask me she didn't have it finished and it was less than 2 weeks away from Market.  She thought she could finish and get it to me so that I'd have 4 days to quilt it.  Which was really pushing me to do that in such a short time.  Normally when I have a custom quilt on the frame, it's usually a minimum of 5 days and more realistic 6-7 days.  I got 3 days... count them, 1 - 2 - 3 days!  But I did it!  My back, shoulders, and knees were screaming "what the heck were you thinking Lady?"

This is Denise and her sister with the quilt.

The pattern is called Vintage Rose and will be available January 2017.  You can see this one and other color options here.  You can also make your own at a retreat/workshop at the Queen's Rustic Retreat, taught by Denise Green in the near future.  We're trying to schedule it for March 2017 but stay tuned and watch for details either here or on the Queen's Rustic Retreat webpage.

Because this is a new pattern, there were NO digitized patterns to go in the blocks or areas.  I had to be very creative and did quite a bit of work "free hand", which if you know me, I don't do that often or very well.  I'm too spoiled by the computerized designs that Queenie can do.

Your comments make my day. I love to hear what you have to say. Please leave me a comment.
