March 2016 Longarm Challenge

Each month Barb, Deb, and I challenge each other to finish something from our UFO's or Flimsies.  We are only a small group but so far, each month we've all finished something.  And so far that's 11 quilts finished in 2016.

Deb's Longarm challenge for March 2016

On March 16th, I got an email from Deb.
"I am ahead of the game this month. I have my little quilt done. I just love how it turned out. Get going, girls...
Deb"

Oh my gosh!  Way to go Deb!  The free hand quilting is fabulous!  No last minute finishes for her this month.  Me, on the other hand.... no ahead of the game finishes for me!  However, a finish is a finish as long as it's before March 31st. Again, it was by the skin of my teeth!

This is my project....

And this is my finish.

I used almost every scrap to make a pieced backing.  It was almost like making another quilt top.

I quilted hearts and curls using Glide Magic Mint thread.

Barb's quilt is Jared Takes a Wife from a Bonnie Hunter class last fall. She put a soft grey material on the back and it's nice and snuggly. (Barb says it's Soft and Comfy from JoAnn Fabrics. Feels like Minkee but no shedding. Wonderful to quilt!) She also says there are LOTS of pieces in this quilt so she is happy to be done. Did the hand sewing on the binding in the car on the way out here-picture coming to you from Colorado.   Barb also finished before the last day of the month.

Three months down and only 9 more to go.  We're all on track!  Can't wait to see what they're doing in April.
