Well, not anymore. I made these clever little ID Pins to use and I can use them over, and over, and over.
1 package of ABC beads (or number beads)
1 package of LONG straight pins
1 tube of E6000 glue
You can use a corsage pin, as they are the longest but I personally don't like corsage pins. They are too "thick". I like a pin that's a little finer. A corsage pin is 2". These quilting pins are 1 3/4" long. I like them much better. You can use shorter pins but by the time you get the bead on there, it leaves less room to pin through the fabric.
Put a little dab of E600 glue on the pin up near the pin head. It really doesn't take much glue at all.
Slip a bead on the pin and slide it all the way to the top.
That's it! Let it dry and they're ready to use.
I stuck mine in my pin cushion sideways to let them dry. You can lay them flat on a piece of aluminum foil also to dry.
You can also add another small bead but that would be strictly for decorative purposes. I opted not to do that this time on mine.
They were ready to use in no time at all.
They also make great inexpensive gifts for your quilting friends. I think when I make them for friends, I'll put the decorative bead on them.
I just love my ID Pins. Go make you some. I know you'll love them too!!
