On the first day of each month, a designer releases 2 blocks for the In Our Garden Blog Hop. One block is a traditional pieced block and the other block is an applique block. There have been flowers, and frogs, and birds, and all sorts of cute garden goodness.
My block is a "Love Flower" for the pieced block.
And a watering can sprinkling water on a droopy flower for my applique block.
There is just a little bit of hand embroidery work that doesn't take much time at all! I also did not cut fabric stems for the flowers. I just used my sewing machine and made a wide zigzag satin stitch for the stems.
I used fabrics from Timeless Treasures Pop Basic line for my applique and some on my Love Flower block.
You can see all the colors here. I just love these fabrics and all the wonderful colors they have. Thank you very much Timeless Treasures.
You can get these two patterns for FREE this month here. Be sure to download them right away because next month they won't be free anymore.
Here is the complete schedule for In Our Garden Blog Hop.

ReplyDeleteLove your two blocks and the little star in the middle adds such a sunshine feeling!
Hugs, Martina
I have a garden full of perennials that previous owners planted. I'm thinking all but the Peonies were gifts and planted wherever they found a spot, but it blooms from spring through mid-summer. I love the colors and free formed planting. Cdahlgren at live dot Com

I have several gardens. Flowers around the house, hostas near the chicken yard, a big garden for veggies, a field garden where I grow corn, and sunflowers, a pumpkin garden (cause those boogers spread!), a berry garden, and a small orchard. We also plant containers which sit on the porch.
ReplyDeleteI have flowers that came from my maternal great grandmother and my grandmother. Also from my mother. I also have a peony plant that came from the original plant that my paternal great great grandmother planted here in America after the family immigrated from Germany around 1860.

Unfortunately we just moved into a rental that doesn't allow gardening! Can you believe that?!! Anyway I still have potted flowers - have to have something to brighten up the place :) Your blocks are so pretty - I'm anxious to get them started. One quick question - did you put any kind of stabilizer behind the embroidery?
ReplyDeleteI just plant lots of flowers all over my yard--no specific garden!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a flower garden and a small veggie garden. Love your cheerful blocks. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks! I enjoy gardening and have several flower garden areas around my yard. I also care for a floral courtyard garden at the school I work at. sewgood414athotmaildotcom

ReplyDeleteI love my gardens. Good reason to get outside. Plenty of fresh vegetables and flowers.
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks, especially the water can. Sew cute. I have a veggie garden of sorts, not very big but enough for DH and me. I have flowers stuck everywhere but not really a garden.
ReplyDeleteI have mostly flowers. I do have a strawberry bed. When I plant other vegetables, the rabbits and racoons seem to eat them before they are ready for me to pick. Tomato worms tend to get my tomatoes as well.
ReplyDeleteI have both. Perennials in the flower garden and just a small vegetable garden. Really enjoying the blocks.
ReplyDeleteNope, my only garden is if this quilty variety. I love your blocks, though, and I love hand embroidery. Thanks!
