In Our Garden Pieced Block

I promised yesterday that I'd share my pieced block for the In Our Garden Blog Hop.  It was so easy to make and didn't take any time at all.  If I had realized how quick it was, I would have done it yesterday with the applique block.

I used the purple from my "Pop" fat eight pack from Timeless Treasures.  I just love these fabrics.  Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy did a great job on the design and the instructions.  Hop on over and check it out.

In case you missed the applique block from yesterday, you can read about it here.

I'm also giving my children something to talk about in 50 years.  I mis-cut 4 of my pieces of my background fabric and didn't have enough to re-cut them so I had to piece them.  I could have scrapped the whole thing and started over but I hated to waste the fabric and the time spent to that point.  I didn't realize it until I was too far into the block.  I'm sure they'll look at the quilt with this block in it and wonder was mom that frugral that she had to piece the pieces or what was she thinking!  Then they'll laugh because they'll know it's hard to tell what mom was thinking!

Since I was working on the In Our Garden blocks and working with the "Pop" fabric, I decided to go ahead and piece my pieced block for the hop.  My month isn't until April and that's a long time to keep something secret.  So how about a sneak peak at my fabrics.

Oh the block turned out so pretty.  I want to show it to you so bad!

  1. Beautiful block and I didn't even notice the piecing of fabric until you pointed it out. That's great! Loving the fabrics you've got!

  2. I love your blocks. The fabrics definitely add a little pop. Stinks that you cut it too short. I might have done that a couple times myself.

  3. Absolutely love the fabric you chose for your frog, Like the motion for your fly, I never thought to deviate from the pattern on the hop. But I like the edea of putting your own flair on it.

Your comments make my day. I love to hear what you have to say. Please leave me a comment.
