Quilting Eye Candy - 09-04-15

Not much quilting going on in the Queen's Palace lately.  There seems to be too many top secret projects to work on.  And to top it off, last weekend we had a lightening storm roll through DeKalb and we lost power for a while.  Not a big deal, or at least it didn't seem so at the time.  However, Saturday evening when I was headed upstairs to bed, I noticed a peculiar thudding, clicking noise coming from my studio.  After further investigation, William determined that my computer that runs my quilting machine had most likely been hit by lightening.  YIKES!!!!

Monday morning a trip to the insurance agent's office, and later a trip to Best Buy's Geek Squad, confirmed that yes indeed, the mother board for my computer was fried due to lightening.  Another trip to the insurance agent's office to file the claim.  Now, 4 days later, they are still reveiwing my claim to determine a claim amount.  URGH!!!

At least I finished these three quilts for Marijane before the big computer fry.

Marijane's granddaughter made this Christmas quilt from strips from a "honey bun" sew together.

Quilting thread:  Glide Pink

I really like this variation of the log cabin block.  I don't know if it's the pattern or the color choices.  Marijane made it for a wedding gift.  I think it's perfect for that!

And the last one is another Christmas Quilt.  I think Marijane's church is going to use it for a raffle quilt.  It doesn't scream Christmas, just a little hint of it.

Actually, I finished one more quilt before the big computer fry but it's a custom quilt and I took several pictures so I'll save it for another post.

  1. Oh, too bad about your computer. Hope it all works out in your favor!

  2. Yikes..sorry about your computer! We have lots of lightening storms around here and ever since a neighbors house was "fried" with a strike, I unplug my sewing machine and laptop ASAP at the first sign of dark clouds. You managed to finish some great projects!

  3. Oh, that's awful!!! That is why I always unplug my LA from the wall when I'm not using it - while I don't do computerized quilting, my LA does have computer components in it - plus my warranty won't cover it if it gets fried like yours and I wasn't using it when it gets fried. I live in an old house out in the country so when there is an electrical storm I'm running all over the house unplugging everything that could possibly get fried. We've even had simple power surges that have taken out refrigerators!! I sure hope you get satisfaction from your insurance company so you can get back in business quickly!!!
