What's New With Me

It's been a long time coming, or so it seems but I can finally report something quilty with What's New With Me.  Today I was able to work on my Farmer's Wives Blocks.

I've been working on them for over a year now.  I've been participating in Quilts With A Heart's BOM program.  She is supplying the patterns and we are using our stash to make the blocks.  Each month we got 4-6 more blocks to make that are 6" finished.  I'm trying something new too.  I'm adding my corner stones and sashing on 2 sides as I go.  I don't usually do it like that.  I hope it will cut down on the boring and mundane task later on.  Here are 9 more blocks I completed.

Evening Star - another favorite

Basket Weave - super easy and simple

Churn Dash - on old favorite

Box - I've never seen this block called "Box"   I always called it windmill.

Bowtie - Not sure I like my color choices on this one.  The navy blue is soooo dark, almost looks black.

Night and Day - one of the easiest blocks I've ever made.  It looked so complicated!

Waste Not - love this block and it's paper pieced.

Calico Puzzle

Flower Basket

Isn't it funny how different they look with the different colors and set on point!  I love reading the stories with each of blocks.  I can relate to so many.

This is month 13 laid out together.

This is month 12 laid out together.

I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I haven't counted yet but I think there's only about 4 more months left or about 25-30 blocks.  Whoo Hoo!   (I hope I'm right.)

I'm linking up with Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts:  Let's Bee Social.  Sew Bee a dear, sweet reader and show some love to the others linking up with her also.  Go see What's New With Them too.

  2. Great blocks!! Love the variety and the blocks themselves are so cool! I think you are smart to add the sashing and corner stones now - I hate that process too!!!

  3. I love your fabric choices for this Farmer's Wife quilt of blocks. I tried to do some of these in 2013 but never finished anything at all. I truly intend to get back to them and I am only creating a wall hanging so not too many blocks. I have never sashed or quilted so this has been a real struggle and I think that is why I put it away. Beautiful in your colorway. Creative FW Bliss...
