QUILT GUILD TUESDAY

Last Tuesday was the regular meeting of the Brownwood Quilter's Guild.  I had so many things to do that I almost didn't go.  However, I remember we were giving one of our members a special gift and it was the Brown Bag Challenge reveal so I really didn't want to miss it.  Plus it might be one of my last meetings with these ladies.... depending on how quickly the house sells.  So I went.  I'm glad I did.  Show and tell was fabulous as usual!

This is Doniene's second Christmas Quilt.  By Christmas she plans to have Christmas quilts on 3 of the 6 beds in her house.  And by Christmas next year she plans to have quilts on all 6 beds.  If I know Doniene, she'll meet her goal.  This one is Ohio stars made from homespun plaids in reds and greens.  Oh, did I mention that she quilts them on her domestic using FMQ!  Wow!

Look at the Holly she quilted in the border.  And on the Ohio Stars she quilted a poinsettia.

Patsy brought a spider web quilt made by her aunt.  Then she told a funny story about that aunt.  It seems she was a smoker but didn't want anyone to know and would hide the lit cigarette behind her back when you would walk in the room.  Apparently the aunt set the quilt on fire at some point as there is a burn mark in the edge of the quilt.  Patsy says she will never repair that burn hole as it always reminds her of of sneaky her aunt thought she was being and it makes her smile.

Sherrie made this fall table runner

And this beautiful quilt for one of her Howard Payne students.

You might remember list month that Elaine won the card trick block of the month drawing and she came back this month with the top pieced!  Do you notice the heart, spade, diamond, and club in the corners of the quilt in the border?  How cute!

Our special gift we wanted to give to one of our members was our string blocks we all made for the block of the month.  We all used pink for our "strings" and paper piece the blocks.  Two were made by each member.  Then we all put Becky's name in the box to draw a winner.  Guess who's name was drawn... Yep, Becky won all those blocks.  And we did it to show her "WE SUPPORT YOU".  You might remember that last month Becky made 16 CPS service projects bags and donated them.  She made one for every time she came home from chemo treatments for her recent diagnosis of breast cancer.  She said it took her mind off of herself and on to others that needed it.

The next several pictures are of the Brown Bag Challenge.  Members participating brought 4 fat quarters and put them in a brown bag with their name inside.  The person drawing that bag was to make them a finished project, using those 4 fat quarters and adding their own fabrics to it if necessary.

Robin made this for Becky

Becky made this table runner for Doniene.

Doniene made this wall hanging and pumpkin set for Vickie

Vickie made this table runner for Wanda

Wanda made this pillow and candle mat for Debra

Debra made this table runner for Robin

Joy made these microwave fabric bowls for Sherry

Sherry made this table runner for Millie

And Millie made this thanksgiving table runner for Joy.

From all the smiles, I think everyone LOVED their Brown Bag Challenge gift.

Doniene made, quilted, and donated this quit for WeeCare service project.

Oh and look who won the fat quarter drawing AND one of the door prizes.  Doniene made these cute little ornaments, one for each of the 12 days of Christmas.  You can tuck a little gift in the middle too.  I'm going to give them to one of the grandkids.  And yes, I'll have to make another set for the other grandkids too.

This the the little ornament and that's a snap bracelet I'm going to tuck inside it.
