As some of my followers know, I have a senior in high school and it has been an interesting year.  He decided to go back to our "home town" in Missouri to complete his senior year.  You see he plans to attend Missouri State University in the fall.  This Queen mom feels a whole lot more comfortable about sending her baby off to Missouri, light years away from me in Texas because he's near a lot of family.  My parents live there, my sister and her husband live there, my oldest son and his wife and kids live there, my mother-in-law lives there (just down the street from my parents) and there's a whole host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.  Needless to say, he's being well taken care of.  And next year when he's away at college, I know if he needs something, someone can be there in a couple of hours versus ten hours, like I am.

Oh yeah, back to the vacation.  So I've been in Missouri visiting him (in sub zero temps I might add; where are my flip flops?).  The King made the comment that I was on vacation.. VACATION????  Really????  I guess so if you want to call it a working vacation.  Since my arrival on Saturday evening, I have attended a workshop at the high school on FASFA application.  Which by the way, was suppose to be the King's responsibility.  I assigned him the task of making sure all the proper paperwork and red tape were completed for college enrollment, housing, scholarships, etc.  Yep, guess who's doing it!  I have been to the grocery store every day, went with Drew (oldest son) to granddaugher Josie's tumbling practice (you know it's a tough job being Nana), went to Drew's last night and helped him with the kids while Bethany was attending night class (I told you it was a tough job being Nana), taught a Machine Applique Class at the local quilt shop, and tomorrow I'm presenting a program at the local Quilt Guild.  Oh yeah, and I've worked on my ruffles project for the upcoming blog, finished my hugs and kisses project for the blog, and worked on my quilt for the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 9.

Whew!  I think I need a real vacation.  One that includes warm temps, crystal clear blue ocean water, flip flops, hammocks, sand, and fruity drinks with little umbrellas in them!!!  I'm pretty sure it's not in southwest Missouri right now!!!

I hope you're following along on the Hugs and Kisses Valentine Blog Hop.  You can see the complete schedule here.
Here is the Schedule for HUGS AND KISSES

  1. That's a great decision and a big relief for you, I am sure.

  2. The King has a skewed idea of vacation!!! Enjoy being with family and do plan the vaca in the sun and sand!!!

Your comments make my day. I love to hear what you have to say. Please leave me a comment.
