HEART'S DESIRE BLOG TOUR

I'm so excited (and honored) to have my first ever quilt block published in Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 8.  I submitted it months ago and hadn't heard anything so thought well, guess I didn't make that one!  Better luck next time! Then out of the blue, more than 6 months later,  I received an email saying my block had been excepted.  I was estatic!  Oh my gosh!

Ok, back to the block.   Here it is:  Block #795 Heart's Desire

The corner blocks come together to make a secondary pattern, another heart.  You can see it in this next quilt.

The original quilt "Nana's Heart Desires" was sent to my Raleigh girl in Japan for Valentine's Day 2013.

Then Quiltmaker gave me the option to submit a quilt to possibly be included in the magazine and here it is.   I'm calling it My Heart Blogs For You.

I was so anxious to submit it that I forgot to take any pictures so I had to make another one. (I was able to take a picture from the magazine once I received it to post here though.)

I decided this Texas Quilting Queen HAD to make the block in guess what... Texas fabric... and of course ... red, white, and blue.  I called this Texas Love Affair.  I also modified it just a little.  I didn't want "half of a heart" on the edges and top and bottom so I substituted solid blocks (the yellow texas print fabric) for pieced half square triangles in the outer corners and edges.

And one last version:  A Scrappy Heart's Desire.

How will you make your Heart's Desire? Will it be scrappy, something pink or red, or something a little less traditional like Texas Love Affair?  Be sure to follow Quiltmaker's 100 Block Blog Tour November 11th - 15th to see how creative others are, and of course cash in on the awesome ideas and giveaways.

Leave me a comment on this post on what your favorite setting was for Heart's Desire block.  You could win a copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 8 magazine.  Leave a comment, subscribe to my blog, like my FaceBook page, or share this post on your FaceBook page for a possible 4 chances to win a fat quarter pack.  If you already like my FaceBook page or have already subscribed to my blog, leave me a message and tell me that.  I'll still count your entry to win.

And don't forget to come back for the Black Tie Boogie Blog Hop November 19th-29th.
