I love Halloween. It's my favorite holiday next to Christmas. I'm not sure why I love Halloween. I don't like scary things. I refuse to watch a scary Halloween movie or go to a Haunted House. I like the cuteness of Halloween, all the cute little goblins that come trick or treating, and oh the candy. But maybe it's my favorite because it's two days before my birthday, or maybe it's my favorite because there are usually lots of parties... Whatever the reason, I love Halloween. However, as much as I love Halloween, I don't own a single Halloween quilt or pillow or wall hanging of any kind. It's time to change that and now, without further delay, my project.
You know as the wicked Quilting Queen, my project would include quilting of some sort. I bought this quilting pattern a while back and this wicked blog hop was the perfect nudge I needed to get it done for myself.
Now, what else goes with it. Some wicked Halloween border fabric of course.
I had quite the time getting this wicked project completed. You see, I took my project to MO with me to work on it and have it ready to quilt when I was suppose to returned home. I got the first project pieced but decided the purple I used from my stash was too dull so I pieced a second one in record time using a different purple I purchased at the LQS. But that's where the trouble began. My plans were changed by the FFA Instructor who ask me to chaperone the FFA trip to National Convention in Louisville KY Oct. 28th - Nov. 2nd. And now I'm not scheduled to return home until Nov. 4th. How am I going to quilt it when I'm in MO and my machine is in TX and post about it on Oct. 29th? Georgia Stull of Heartland Quiltworks to the rescue. Georgia lives in Harrisonville MO and is a Gammill rep. She was gracious enough to loan me her machine for a couple of hours to quilt it. THANK YOU GEORGIA! So now "A Wicked Welcome Halloween" is complete. It's not a large project, only 33" x 37" so it's do-able in just a day.
I will post a tutorial on how to make this wicked project in the next day or so and you can send it to your favorite wicked quilting queen to quilt it for you.
Then while at the Calico Clippers Quilt Show, my dad won a door prize and I was the wicked daughter that took it away from him.
Well what timing is this? A wickedly cute little pattern and the wicked fabrics to make it. I made the first one and this is how it turned out.
But I thought it needed more wicked cuteness so I made another one using the lime green background.
Leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite thing about Halloween is and you can win one of these wicked pillows. I will randomly draw a wicked name from the comments on the 31st after the blog hop is over. And don't forget to hop on over to the other wicked blogs today and see what wickedness they have created.

ReplyDeleteI love creative costumes. I use to make all the costumes for my children. I made p.js or nightgowns for the basic costume and added wings, etc, as needed. Now I make grandchildren's costumes. But one of my favorite was one my daughter created for my grandson who dressed as "road kill". My daughter painted the tire on her car black. Then she drove over an old shirt and added red paint. So simple but so creative!

ReplyDeleteFirst, Happy early birthday. Maybe I like Thanksgiving because my birthday sometimes falls on Thanksgiving Day. My grandfather's (and now my grandson's) more often fall then. Anyhow, I'm don't do much to celebrate Halloween. Last year we didn't even have any trick or treaters. I can remember my grandmother counting the kids and she'd have over 100 in her small town. Times have certainly changed. Second, before the hop emerged, you had no Halloween quilts. Now, you have an amazing quilt and two adorable pillows. I can hardly believe you are willing to part with one. They are fabulous. I admire your tenacity to get your quilt finished. Thanks for participating and being a great inspiration. Isn't it fun to stitch in the car on long trips. I used to cross stitch - back in the day when I could see to do it. I hope to see you in more hops soon.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is just great and I love, love, love the shoes. Halloween has always been so much fun but now I love seeing my kids get excited for days in advance and then having the time of their life that special day. Thanks for the chance to win.

ReplyDeleteYour quilt is great and that last border of haunted houses is just the 'best'. The pillows are so cute; the green one is my favorite. The best part of Halloween is seeing all the dressed-up sweeties that come trick or treating.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt--is the center block a quilting pattern then? And those shoes are awesome, especially that spider! I'd have been wicked too if my dad had won that! Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!
