MEET MR. EMMETT HIRAM BALK LILES

As most of you know, my daughter-in-law and son, Bethany and Drew were expecting a baby boy.  And great news, he arrived today.  His name is Emmett Hiram Balk Liles (he's going to hate his mom and dad someday for his middle names!  lol.)  He arrived at 8:33 a.m. this morning and weighed 9 lbs, 1 oz and was 21" long.  Thank goodness she had him by C-section.  He is one healthy baby boy!!!  Momma and baby are both doing fine and daddy is walking in tall cotton!

Drew is one proud daddy!

And this is one doting Nana!

So this week, actually the last day and a half, while awaiting his arrival, I made these diaper burp pads

And this minkee cuddle quilt, plus a fitted crib sheet from the blue and orange plaid, and a self binding baby blanket from an orange print and the blue and orange plaid.  You see, I had 9 yards of the orange and blue plaid that I purchased many, many years ago.  I don't even remember where I got it or what would possess me to purchase 9 yards.  I don't recall having a quilt backing in mind or for that matter, even a quilt and I rarely would purchase a plaid or a stripe for a quilt.  I wasn't really even that fond of the fabric colors but I remembered seeing it in my stash and each time thinking, "what was I thinking"?  And, after all this baby project making, I still have a little less than a yard left!

I didn't make this this last week but it wasn't too long ago and now it's quilted.  If only I hadn't forgotten the binding in Texas!  Thank goodness Emmett won't be needing this anytime soon since it's 90 some degrees outside!  Poppy (aka Gregg Rice is going to bring it next week when he comes).

And for those who don't know.... as I certainly didn't know until I was educated on it, The AC in the middle of the quilt and the colors are a replica of the old Allis Chalmers Tractor Logo.  You see, Bethany's father was the Allis Chalmers Dealer in Nevada MO for years.  Drew and Bethany are decorating Emmett's nursery in Allis Chalmers Tractors.

And of course, the quilt has soft, cuddly orange minkee for the backing.

I can't wait to show you more pictures of baby Emmett.  I wonder what big sister Josie will think of her baby brother!  She hasn't met him yet!
