Does this make you think of a Charlie Brown Christmas?  That is what the theme is for November block in the Quilted Angel Online Quilt Club.  I think he's pretty cute with his big awkward turkey legs.  I won a charm pack two months in a row because apparently I was the only one playing along.  Last month Linda won the prize with her leaves block; same thing I made but different pattern.  So this month I had to step it up a notch.  I've got my work cut out for me as Linda is pretty tough to beat.  She is very creative and does fabulous work, always pretty darn perfect.  Now I'm talking like Linda and I are the only ones competing.  We both may have some competition for others in the club this time.  Either way, it doesn't matter to me.  I've got another block complete for my seasonal quilt I have in mind to make with the challenge blocks.

Do you realize there are only 5 more Sunday Stash Stats reports in 2012?  Wow, did this year fly by fast!  I hate wishing my life away, but I hope the next 2 1/2 years fly by as fast as this one has.  My little granddaughter Raleigh and her momma and daddy would be pretty close to coming back for Japan by then.

No sewing this week though.  Just quilting and cooking and cleaning and eating!

Why is it so hard to get back in the groove of doing something once you get out?  I can't seem to get back in the swing of blogging ever since my laptop has been on the fritts!  And yes, it still won't connect to the Internet and Gregg has promised he will call technical support.  But as you can see, he hasn't done it yet.  I have considered buying a new laptop, as mine is 3-4 years old but dang, I am a tightwad... sometimes... and I just hate dropping that much money!

How was your Thanksgiving?  Ours was good; a little different, but good.  We opted to stay home in Brownwood instead of going "home to Missouri" this year.  I'm not much of a fan of that but in the eye of cost savings - remember the tightwad I am... sometimes, I thought it was a good idea.  William said if we were going to stay here, there better be some good food prepared.  So, for the first time in my 52 young years of life, I fixed a turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, broccoli rice casserole, homemade noodles, rolls, rhubarb pie, and angel food cake.  Gregg asked me if I had ever cooked a turkey and my response was no but I've watched mom.  I had also never made dressing or noodles.  And I had only fixed gravy about 2 times in my life.  All turned out great, except I didn't get the dressing done when the rest of the meal was done so we have lots of leftover dressing.  We also have lots of leftover turkey as the smallest one Kroger had was 20#.  Now that's a big turkey for 3 people.

Yesterday we did a little Black Friday shopping and the biggest bargain I came home with was a $5 wreath from Home Depot.  We didn't venture to Walmart but the parking lot didn't look full at all.  In fact, I think I've seen more cars in the parking lot on a regular basis than I did on Black Friday.  We went to Bealle's, Staples, Big Lots, Tractor Supply, Hibbetts Sports, Burke's Outlet and Hastings.  We decided everyone else in Brownwood must have gone out of town to do their shopping.  It was not crowded or crazy at all!!!

One think I just hate is buying something one day and the next day, get an ad for that very item to be on sale.  That happened to me on Wed.  I went to Hastings and bought Gregg a tablet.  Hastings had them on sale for $179.99.  Then they have them on sale on Black Friday for $149.99.   Urgh that ticks me off.  Could the sales clerk that helped me on Wednesday say, hey, you might want to consider waiting till Friday when they will be on sale for $30 less.  So guess what I did?  I become my mother's daughter and I took it back on Friday.  The young smart-@$$ sales man told me he couldn't refund the difference as "that would be cheating the system and I should have done a better job researching the prices"!  Really, did he just tell me that?  Yep, he did.  I said very well, I would like my money back on this item then.  After calling 2 other managers to the service desk, they agreed to refund me the difference. Yes, I have officially become Marianna Cotten the second!

There really isn't anything on my design wall right now but there needs to be this Christmas Tree skirt on there for my sister.  She has asked me to make her one.  I saw a pattern on the internet and thought that would be a neat tree skirt.  Of course, 3-4 weeks later, I can't remember the name of the pattern and I can't find it again.  I hate it when I don't bookmark it for later.  I also like this one so guess it will have to do.  Hope she likes it too.  If not, I have a new tree skirt.  I think I need one anyway.  The last time I made myself one was in 1980!  Yikes that was a long time ago!!!

It has been so long since I posted on my stash busting, I can't remember what I've reported and not reported.  I know I'm in the hole again though.  You see, I had a birthday 2 weeks ago and the good thing about that is my friends in my quilting group "Loose Threads" - all six of them - each game me fat quarters and yardage to equal a total of 12 yards.  And then this Saturday I delivered 9 quilts I had quilted to B&B Quilting and I added some fabrics for a couple of projects I have in mind for the future.  I'm calling it my retirement plan :)  Wonder if Gregg will call it that too!

Used the past 2 weeks:  7 3/8 yards (I think)
Used year to date in 2012:  192 3/8 yards

Added the past 2 weeks:  19 1/4 yards (that I'm pretty sure about!)
Added this year to date in 2012:  195 3/4 yards

Net used:  -2 3/8 yards (I knew I was in the hole but not as bad as I thought.)

I'm back, finally!  On November 1st, I went for a "girls weekend" with my mom and my sister, some girlfriends in Brownwood, and some girlfriends from Arkansas to Canton.  We had a great time and saw so many things I'd like to make or buy.  I can't possibly live long enough to make them all!

While I was gone, Gregg and William purchased a new wireless router and when I returned, I can no longer connect to the Internet.   We have called, trouble shooted, everything we know so now it's either pay for a service call or go buy a new laptop.  I think I'm holding out for a new laptop.  Mine is 3-4 years old and is getting slower and slower and it won't hold a charge on the battery so I have to keep it plugged in most of the time so I think it's time for a new one.  Too bad my bank account doesn't think that too!

So, in the mean time, Gregg has agreed to "loan" me his laptop.   I'm not sure how long this is going to last as he seems to be on it when I want to borrow it.  And when I have it, he thinks I take too long and wants it back.  Maybe someone will have a good deal on a laptop on Black Friday
