END OF SUMMER BLOCK

In my online "Quilted Angels" quilting club, Angela has challenged us to make a block of the month and she will give us the theme.  We have until the 15th of the following month to make our block and submit it.  She will pick a winner and a prize.  I won a charm pack with my honey and bees block last month.  The theme for September was something that reminds us of "The End of Summer".  Two things came to mind.  The first was school starting and the second was fall leaves.  I went with the school theme and did a school house block.

Notice anything wrong with this block.... say maybe the door and window section is upside down.  Sorry you have to look sideways to see it.

And this is the re-do/final.  I'm not sure I like the cobblestone across the bottom but for now it's there and knowing me, it will probably stay.  I HATE to rip anything out.  It brings back haunting memories of my 4-H days when my mother make me rip things out if they weren't perfect.  Of course it paid off in the long run but I still HATED it and and to this day still HATE it.  Did I mention that I HATE to rip anything out?  Well I do.

And then I moved on to mom's quilt.  All of the half square triangles are sewn on to each corner.  And I saved the corners to sew together to make more half square triangles for a scrappy quilt.  :o)

Now I'm ready to add the black circle that I will applique on there and then add a gold star applique to the center of the black circle.  There are 28 of these.
