Judy, over at patchworktimes.com is doing the Stars and Stripes Sampler and I'm playing along with her. However, I didn't remember which block she started on and I did some assuming. And you know what assuming does right? Well, I started at the beginning of the book with the flag blocks. After I got those done, I pulled up the project on her site and guess what, that's not the blocks she started with. Oh well! Guess I'm ahead of the game, or am I behind?
Here is my first flag block. Notice anything wrong with it? I followed the directions in the book to a tee and mine looked just like theirs in the book. There's only one problem. It's backwards and I can't go with it like that.
So out comes the seam ripper and back to the sewing machine to fix it.
Finally I got the flag blocks almost done. I had to change things up a bit though (besides the backwards flag). Since we live in Texas and there are 4 American flags in the quilt, I think we need to replace at least 1 of those flags with a Texas flag. I still need to add the star but here are my flags. Betsy Ross would be so proud!
