TO SASH OR NOT TO SASH

I'm working on quilts for my "Texas Beauties" trunk show and decided I needed a "simple" quilt in my collection.  I had a jelly roll and a charm pack from the Wildflowers V collection by Moda.  This is what I came up with in EQ7.  I called it Willow City Loop.  For those of you who live in the Texas Hill Country, you'll be able to relate to the name Willow City Loop.   You have to use a bit of your imagination. The checkerboard border will not be green and black, it will be scrappy, using the left over pieces of the jelly roll.  And all of the blocks will be scrappy, using the charm pack and jelly roll.  I just didn't want to take the time to download the fabrics and place them in the quilt.  I can figure that part out.  I also don't know what I'm actually going to use for the outside border.  I'll wait until I have the checkerboard attached and then audition fabrics for the border.

So my blocks are done and I have laid it out on the floor design wall.  This is what it looks like.  When I stood up to take the picture, I realized I didn't leave space for the red sashing but I kinda liked it like it is anyway.

This is what it looks like with red sashing and setting triangles.  So, to sash or not to sash?  I think I should sash, what do you think?

  1. I agree. Definitely add the sash. It will give it a nice pop!

  2. I'd add the red. Without sashing, it is really pretty, but with the red it is Pretty FUN! But then Red is my next favorite color to purple so I am prejudice! Erica
