Since Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. I have been in the company of 6 sophomore kids and 1 FFA advisor.  We started out in Brownwood, Texas, traveled 60 miles to Stephenville, Texas for our first contest.  The team, Nursery Landscape, did well; they placed 10th out of 70+ teams that day.  We then loaded up in the school suburban and traveled 3 hours south to San Marcos, Texas.

Day two in San Marcos, Texas resulted in placing 11th.  Each day they are improving their scores and seeing and learning different plants and solving different landscaping problems.  While the kids were at contest we managed to sneak away and drive a short distance to Buda, Texas where we treated ourselves to some shopping at.... where else..... a quilt shop, B & B Quilting.  And yes, I added to my stash but you'll have to wait till Sunday to see my purchases and numbers. We loaded up again and headed 4 1/2 hours north to Decatur, Texas to get ready for Day 3.  The hotel has an indoor pool and the kids are excited to jump in for a much need cooped up energy release!  Mrs. Cockerham and I are thinking the peace and quiet of the hotel room is calling our name.

  1. Thank you for sharing - that has brought back lots of wonderful memories. I chaperoned lots of FFA trips when our 3 kids were in FFA. We always had a great time. Unfortunately our school doesn't have an FFA chapter any more. So wish our grandkids could have the FFA experience. Have fun.
