My nephew and his wife are getting ready to have a baby girl.  They have tried for quite some time and she has had a couple of miscarriages but this time it's going to happen and we are all very happy about that!  My sister is very excited as her other son and his wife just had a little boy so now she will have one grandchild of each.

Nicknames are pretty common in our family, although I really don't like them.  When William was born almost 16 years ago, I made an announcement to the family that we would not be calling him by a nickname like Will or Bill or Willy.  His name was William and that's what we wanted him to be called.  Soo, the first time my brother-in-law sees him, what does he call him?  Nope, not any of those names I just mentioned.  Nope, he calls him Bert!  And as soon as William was old enough to talk, he started calling him "Uncle Bert".

Meanwhile, back to my nephew....  Derik and Ashley's last name is White (and now most of you know where I'm going with this... ).  Gregg asked them if they had picked out a name for the baby and we were told no they hadn't yet so Gregg named the baby "Snow".  I didn't get it at first until I said the two names together.  Snow White.  Poor little girl.  Gregg will probably always tease her and call her Snow from now on.

Anyway, I made Snow the baby a quilt for my sister and my mom always makes a quilt for the grand babies and great grand babies.  So here they are.  Now I don't know what I'm going to give her.  She really doesn't need 3 quilts does she?   Or maybe she does?

This is mom's quilt for her great-granddaughter.  I quilted a panto that had cowboy boots, hats, and horseshoes in it.  Mom used a soft pink flannel for the backing.

This is the quilt I made for my sister to give to her granddaughter.  I used a really soft pink minkee for the backing.  Every one's favorite but a quilter's nightmare!

  1. Those are so cute and I think Snow should definitely have 3 quilts.
