I have finally finished the painting on the bookcases.  Actually I finished it weekend before last but I didn't get the hinges and the knobs back on until this last weekend.  Plus I wanted the paint to "cure" and not put anything on them until they were completely dry.  I am very pleased with the end results.  Gregg says it's growing on him.

I really want (and really think I need to) paint the mantle black also.  Gregg said NO at first but I think he'll be just fine if he comes home from work one day and the mantle is black too.

I am still putting the stuff back in/on the bookcases and low and behold, I'm not going to put the books back on some of the shelves.  Nope, I think I'm going to put more pictures of my granddaughters on there instead.  I would much rather look at their angel faces than I would the spines of books that Gregg has already read and won't read again and I never will read.  Not that I don't like to read.  I do, I would just rather sew or do embroidery work instead, or read something on the internet.  Maybe someday I'll read books again or maybe not.

After the mantle is painted black, it will need a face lift also.  Actually it needs a face lift now but now I have an excuse to do it.  (Like I needed an excuse!)  I'm thinking it needs some silver candlesticks but what else?

  1. Nice job on the bookcases! Pictures are more fun to dust anyway. The black really sets off the Longaberger baskets also! I use my baskets to help me organize my quilting projects.

  2. Thanks! I agree pictures are more fun to dust (like I do that often... lol). I love my Longaberger baskets. I used to sell them in the early 90's so I have lots of baskets and I use them too!
