There is nothing more exciting in small town Brownwood than Homecoming and Friday Night Football.  Until you've experienced a Friday Night Football game in central Texas, I can't even begin to describe the experience. It's just different than anything in Missouri or Arkansas.  I don't know how, or why, it just is!

Our Sunday School class started the evening with a tailgate party in the park adjacent to the football stadium.  Great foot and fellowship is always present.  Then on to the game where I'm am so intrigued by all the mum corsages and garters.  Now first of all, if you got a mum from your homecoming date when I was in high school, I can assure you it looked nothing like these!
And the poor guys were left out completely back then.  Garters only existed to hold your grandma's stockings up!

They even have finger mums!  The floral design class at Brownwood High School made these and sold them.
No one was left out!  Even preschoolers, elementary students, and middle schoolers had mums.  They were so cute on the little girls, taking up their hole chest and streamers down to their ankles!

Brownwood FFA members sold raffle tickets for a pair of boots from Scott's Western Wear and  this quilt (which is folded in half) made and donated by me.  The lucky winner of the quilt, Mrs . Perkins, is pictured with some of the FFA members.
Today I'm off to the Central Methodist Bazaar and Hamburger luncheon, work on my "Pieces of Texas Flag" quilt and hopefully finish my "Texas Traditions" quilt.  It's all about Texas here you know!
